Input controls Webi Setting User Security in CMC

Input controls appear to be a very useful to add to reports. However we are struggling with a security issue in allowing feature access to users. Our security is designed to allow report users to run reports only and only a small number of writers and editors can update or change the contents of reports.

 

We have tried almost very control in the CMC but cannot seem to allow users to access input control without assigning them edit rights which are also sufficient rights to substantially edit the output of report, to reformat the layout and remove data from the views. We would like to set this up so users could filter the report output using the input control without being able to edit other elements of the report.

 

Can any one advise how this could be achieved in CMC security please

BI Launch pad - error opening WebI documents

Hello,

 

We have newly installed BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0 with Client tools.

 

When we are trying to open WebI documents from BI Launch Pad we are getting the following error message.

 

(Error: RWI 00200) (Error: INF)

 

Does anyone have any idea what does this mean?

Merge dimensions, Combined query, Sub Query

Hi Everybody,

 

I have recently learned BO- Webi but couldnt understand Merge dimensions, Combined query and Sub Query properly. Can anybody explain above things in detail with examples.

 

I'll be grateful  and points will be awarded generously.

SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence 4.0 Download

Hello ALL,

 

Any idea how I can download the FREE version of SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence 4.0?  I have installed the Business Object Edge which runs good but some new universes and some actions have been added to the 4.0 version which are not part of the Busines Object Edge.  Any help?

How to model WEBI reports on SAP BO 4.0

Dear All,

 

            Need some clarification, searched in SCN however cannot find answers to the point.

 

1. when a client already owns SAP BI system and would like to design reports on WEBI. Which is the best approach, either creating webi report on Bex or directly on infocube.

 

2.If Bex reports are taking much time to execute for whatever reason, if the same is desinged in webi can we execute the same report in quick time.

 

3. If we are desiging WEBI report based on Bex, are we not duplicating by doing twice.

 

4. If we are creating a WEBI report directly on Infocube, can we do analysis like Previous year Current Month Sales wrt Current Year Current Month Sales.

   If we can, is it a complex SQL to be written, which can be easily done in BEX

 

5. If some one does not want to touch BEx after taking BO tools, can we suggest to goahead by using InfoCube.

How do I concatenate a single field from multiple rows in BOXI 3.1 WebI?

Hi, 

 

I'm using BOXI 3.1 WebI and have a need to show multiple values of a column in a comma delimited list.  I tried using a horizontal table but if the list goes over the right margin it creates a new page instead of wrapping to the next line like we want.  I can do what I want in Oracle sql using the WM_CONCAT aggregate function but haven't found a way to do it in WebI reports.  Has anyone figured out a way to do this?

How to prevent this annoying Java security warning dialog box?

I'm creating reports in Web Intelligence, which I'm accessing from the BI Launch Pad. I'm using BI Platform 4.0, SP5, Patch 6. I'm running Java 6 Update 24.

 

When closing reports, the UI sometimes seemingly hangs. At such times, I've noticed a flashing Java icon in my Windows Taskbar. Clicking the icon displays the following Java "Security Warning" dialog:

Two SAP Notes from 2010 (1487414 and 1456480) refer to this warning and (in theory) why WebI is generating it. The notes describe Java's "Mixed code (sandboxed vs. trusted) security verification" and the four mixed code options; however, the notes don't offer a suggestion as to how to prevent the security warning dialog box from appearing. In any case, any change to this option (potentially lowering security) would affect *all* apps that use Java—which (IMO) is not an acceptable solution.

 

This dialog and the seeming UI hang are annoying. How can they be prevented?

User input control for more than one tab in webI

Hi experts,

 

is it possible to use a user input control for more then one tab in a webI.

What I want to do is to create a webI with two tabs. When I create a user input control, then the filter only takes effect on one tab. for the second tab, I have to create  another user input control.

Is there any solution for my problem?

Cannot launch Java Report Panel

I would like to use the 'Advanced' Web Intelligence editor.

 

Unfortunately, when I attempt to edit a WI report, I get a message that reads 'This software has already been installed on your computer.  Would you like to reinstall it?'

 

If I allow the installation, Java 6, Update 3 is downloaded and installed.  I restart the browser.  Attempting to edit the WI report generates the installation message.

 

If I don't allow the installation, I get an error that reads 'Cannot launch Java Report Panel, please make sure you have installed a Java virtual machine.'.

 

It never gets out of this installation loop.

 

At one point, the Advance editor worked, then something changed.

 

The Java Control Panel indicates that I have JRE versions 1.6.0_03 and 1.6.0._20 installed (in the Java Applet Runtime Settings).  In addition, versions 1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_07, 1.4.2_12, and 1.6.0_03 are listed in the JNLP Runtime settings.

 

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

WEBI returns 'Partial Results' (BOBJ 4.x)

After refreshing data in WEBI report yellow triangle is displayed with worning message 'Partial Results'.

 

WEBI report was built on top of MS SQL based universe and BOBJ version 4.0. Univers was built using Information Design Tool.

 

In Query properties 'Max Rows retrieved' and 'Max retrieval time' are unchecked.

 

What needs to be done to eliminate 'Partial Results' warning?

 

PS. Solution suggestions based on 3.x posts did not help

WIS 10901 error while running WEBI report

Hello All

 

 

When we try to run WEBI report on BW query for Cost center accounting infocube its giving following error when we add measure in the info view.

"A database error occured. The database text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details. (WIS 10901)"

We did a trace and came to know that BO user id doesnt have authorization for Admin work bench. But when we authorize too its giving same error.

 

This error populates only when we drag measure into the info view of Webi and if we drag any characteristic it works fine.

 

Any help is highy appreciated.

SAP BO Webi working very slow

Hi,

 

I am using SAP BO 4.0, working on webi reports.

 

I have a problem ,my webi runs very slow, it takes around 2-3 mins to open then also if i click on the window it hangs.For making any small change it takes 2-3 mins .Its really testing my patience.Its working like that from starting <working for last 3 months>

 

Please let me know what can be the issue for this behavior and also any resolution for the same.

#multivalue error for detail object in webi report

Hi,

 

I am facing #multivalue error in my webi report.

I am using 2 queries 

 

Query 1

 

Account Number

Cost Center

 

Query 2

Account Number

Order Number

 

Now I want to display Account Namer,Cost Center and Order Number in the report.

 

So I merged Account Number from both the queries, and created a detailed object "Order" and associated it with [Query 1].[Account number].

 

But Order displays values for some accounts, and displays Nulls and #MULTIVALUE error for some accounts.

 

Please through some light on this issue.

I tried every possible solution from my side, but couldn't get it work. It is happening because there is a 1:N relationship between Account Number and Order. I can not use any aggregate function because it will give only the Max or Min value, but I want list all the value of for each Account Number. Avoid Duplicate Row Aggregation was also checked but it didnot help.

WEBI Nesting IF statements and use of ELSE

Hi,

 

Am quite new to the use of WEBI as I have traditionally been brought up in a full client environment so am used to writing IF statements with THEN and ELSE commands. However I noted that the same functionality doesnt appear to exist in WEBI, so was wondering how one writes an IF statement against a variable which has four outputs which all need to be independently named. Have tried using ; between if statements but it only appears to allow me to use a maximum of two....

 

Appreciate the assistance.
